The independent panel charged with determining whether there are links between the chemical C8 and human disease is expected to present details of its work plan this week. The panel is part of a 2004 settlement of a class action filed by West Virginia and Ohio residents over the contamination of their water supplies by C8, which is used by the DuPont Co. in making Teflon. The testing may take years to complete. DuPont has maintained that C8 poses no human health risks.
