Pillsbury Ventures Into Shanghai, Plans to Close Taipei Office

Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman announced Tuesday that after more than a year of waiting, its license to practice law in China was approved by the Chinese Ministry of Justice and the firm will finally be opening shop in Shanghai. So far, only partner Joseph Chan is pegged to work in the new office. Chan said that the office will focus on private equity groups seeking to invest in China and Chinese companies looking to expand overseas. Pillsbury also announced that it would be closing its Taipei office.
