In a pioneering case in "take-home exposure" asbestos litigation, a jury found that DaimlerChrysler wasn't responsible for the illness Rebekah Price claims she developed through exposure to relatives who were auto mechanics. To help her case, lawyer Simona Farrise had bought a 1973 Dodge RV on eBay with some original parts to show they were rife with asbestos. The jurors found the company had negligently exposed Price to asbestos, but decided the negligence wasn't a "substantial factor" in Price's problems.

Oakland, Calif., lawyer Simona Farrise isn’t taking a jury verdict against her client in an asbestos trial as a setback, but rather as a warning shot across the bow of automakers.
