It could be if a newspaper report that the San Jose, Calif.-based company is close to selling its eBay EachNet operation in China to TOM Group is true. EBay spokesman Hani Durzy said on Friday that the company does not comment on speculation. Other recent rumors have suggested that the U.S. auctioneer may actually be trying to beef up its presence in China by acquiring Tencent, or that Tencent would buy eBay's China operations.
