Drug developer Barr Pharmaceuticals said Thursday its subsidiary launched a generic version of the company's birth control pill, Seasonale. Barr Laboratories will market the generic version of the extended cycle oral contraceptive under the name Jolessa. The move is a response to the FDA's Tuesday approval of rival Watson Pharmaceuticals' generic version of Seasonale. Watson estimates Seasonale had sales of approximately $110 million over the 12 months ending in June, citing industry figures.
