Most lawyers have seen the headlines about the rise in associate salaries at firms. Some attorneys shake their heads at the lucrative starting packages offered to first-year associates. Others panic at the thought that such seductive compensation will lure away their talented associates or in-house lawyers.

Undoubtedly, some lawyers will consider the almighty dollar as their first priority in deciding where to work. Most lawyers, however, consider other factors.
