Following a string of adverse rulings in its patent infringement cases and issues involving options backdating, California-based chip manufacturer Rambus Inc. announced Thursday that John Danforth left his position as vice president and general counsel and would now serve as a "senior legal adviser." The company also announced it would forgo a new damages trial in the Hynix infringement case and would accept a judge's slashed verdict amount.

Following a recent string of adverse legal rulings in its patent infringement cases, Rambus Inc. announced Thursday that John Danforth left his position as vice president and general counsel.
Danforth will now serve as a “senior legal adviser” for the Los Altos, Calif., chip manufacturer, according to a company statement. Rambus said Robert Kramer, a deputy general counsel, will serve as acting GC until the position can be filled.
