A judicial ethics panel is calling for a six-month suspension of Mercer County Superior Court Judge Wilbur Mathesius over caustic remarks and other improper comments he made while in robes.
His behavior — which included berating a jury for an acquittal and making derogatory comments about another judge — was “so serious and prolonged that it calls for a severe measure of public discipline,” the Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct held July 19.
