The widow of a Florida smoker filed the first individual suit Monday in Broward Circuit Court since the Florida Supreme Court eased the way for smoker lawsuits against tobacco companies.

Lucrecia Pummer sued cigarette makers Philip Morris Inc. and R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. for negligence and strict liability, claiming their actions led to the death of her husband, Rowland, two years ago from lung cancer.
