IP litigation firm Day Casebeer Madrid & Batchelder has hired 14 summer associates, which is small compared with giant law firms, but the Silicon Valley firm has fewer than 30 lawyers. The large summer class is part of the firm's strategy to grow organically fast. "We are so stretched right now," says partner Renee DuBord Brown. "Our summers have been able to do a lot of work." Other firms hungry for IP talent have the same idea, and the competition for new associates interested in IP is becoming tough.
