The noose has been tightened on defalcating attorneys in Connecticut. Starting next year, any lawyer found guilty by a Superior Court judge of misappropriating clients' funds will be automatically disbarred for at least 12 years and cannot be considered for readmission before then. In the past two years, lawyers admitted in Connecticut have misappropriated roughly $20 million from clients, according to Chief Disciplinary Counsel Mark A. Dubois.
