When Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott’s Cyber Crimes Unit helped arrest John David Payne for allegedly engaging in graphic sexual conversations with an investigator posing as a teenager online, the occasion marked a first for the assistant AGs who serve as the unit’s prosecutors.

Payne, a 27-year-old Brenham resident, is the first alleged Internet predator to be arrested by the AG’s investigators for a conversation held on the social-networking Web site MySpace.com, a Web portal popular with teens.
