"They were not perfectly comfortable with a midsize firm, which is perfectly understandable," Phillips & Akers' Michael Phillips says of the departing lawyers. Phillips & Akers, which does insurance defense work but is starting to expand into commercial litigation, will have 22 lawyers after the departures.

Bradley Bingham says he and partners Lisa Gage Mann, Jennifer House and Rick Gibson will form Bingham, Gage, House & Gibson on June 26, where they will continue to do defense work. Bingham says he expects two associates from Phillips & Akers to join them at the new firm, but he declines to identify them.
