Attorney Lincoln Meyers has filed a defamation suit against Cozen O'Connor in a case that could prompt lawyers to think twice before they talk about a matter's court filings with individuals not party to the litigation. Meyers claims that in March 2004, a Cozen O'Connor attorney representing Meyers' mother in a dispute over a family trust informed a third party of court papers containing a heavily disputed allegation that Meyers had used a fake title to sell an automobile belonging to his mother.

Meyers v. Sovereign Bank has been brought in Philadelphia common pleas court. It’s been tentatively slated for trial next spring before Judge Jacqueline F. Allen.
