In their second time trying the high-profile bank fraud case against former Hamilton Bank chairman and chief executive Eduardo Masferrer, federal prosecutors went well beyond normal procedures to win.

U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta’s office took the rare step of hiring a jury consultant, Nona Dodson of Cathy E. Bennett & Associates in Lewisville, Texas. Three prosecutors were assigned nearly full time to the case — Peter Outerbridge, a 27-year veteran of the office; Ben Greenberg, a newly named deputy of major crimes; and Andrew Levi, a former investigator for the New York Stock Exchange.
