The company also said it will challenge the patent protecting the name brand drug.

The company also said it will challenge the patent protecting the name brand drug. Barr said it is the first company to file an Abbreviated New Drug Application -- in September of 2001 -- with the Food and Drug Administration for the generic version of the 90 milligram capsule.
