After 14 years with the Miami admiralty and maritime firm Houck Hamilton & Anderson, Jerry Hamilton has sailed away from his partnership with Mark Houck in a dispute over the financial viability of cruise line defense work.

Last week, Hamilton, who was a founding member of Houck Hamilton, launched a five-lawyer firm, Hamilton & Miller. Joining him are two lawyers from his former firm, Jennifer Miller and Hector Ramirez, as well as two other lawyers, Lori Cooperider and Elizabeth Martin, and two paralegals. The new firm leased space at the Ocean Bank building in downtown Miami.
