United Airlines' three-year restructuring will cost the carrier more than $335 million in fees to lawyers and consultants, court documents show. The airline's lead law firm, Chicago-based Kirkland & Ellis, has billed $99.8 million in fees and expenses so far, with the partner who was United's lead bankruptcy lawyer billing at a top rate of $850 an hour. The final legal tab will go up as firms continue to make filings and court appearances in wrapping up loose ends in the case.

United Airlines’ three-year bankruptcy restructuring, the largest and longest in the industry’s history, will end up costing the carrier more than $335 million in fees to lawyers and consultants, court documents show.
The fees include $99.8 million charged by the airline’s lead law firm during the 38-month process, Chicago-based Kirkland & Ellis LLC, pending formal approval by U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
