Clifford Chance has elected London partner David Childs as its next global managing partner. Childs, 54, is expected to take over the firm's top management job May 1 and serve for four years. One of the largest firms in the world and a member of London's Magic Circle of leading corporate firms, Clifford Chance has had difficulty in its U.S. expansion efforts, seeing a large number of U.S. partner departures following its acquisition of New York's Rogers & Wells in 2000.
