Morrison & Foerster and Manatt, Phelps & Phillips are raising associate base pay in line with a recent wave of increases initiated by some of the big Los Angeles firms. MoFo Chairman Keith Wetmore says he waited after other firms hiked pay last year "because everybody would follow." In other good news for associates, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati has announced its associate bonuses, ranging from $20,000 to $45,000, depending on year.

Two more firms — Morrison & Foerster and Manatt, Phelps & Phillips — announced Tuesday that they are raising associate base pay in line with the recent wave of increases initiated by some of the big Los Angeles firms.
Both MoFo and Manatt are now paying first-year associates $135,000, fourth-year associates $170,000 and seventh-year associates $210,000. At both firms, the raises are retroactive to Jan. 1.
