A California appeal court briefly entertained the possibility of rehearing a legal malpractice case involving Silicon Valley IP law firm Fish & Richardson, then backtracked and reissued its original opinion.

With the move, the 1st District Court of Appeal reinstated most of a $30 million malpractice award against Fish & Richardson for failing to file a patent application in a timely manner for chemical digital imaging client Kairos Scientific Inc.
