DaimlerChrysler AG won a legal battle at the European Union’s highest court on Thursday over a trademark dispute with the heirs of artist Pablo Picasso.

The European Court of Justice ruled against the claim by descendants of the Spanish artist, who had argued that the “Picaro” trademark registered by the automaker was too close to the Picasso name, the court said in a statement. The Picasso heirs were also ordered to pay the costs of the proceedings.
