When the facts are hard to understand in complex litigation, a judge, jury or arbitrator will be heavily influenced by anyone who can guide them through the fog. If you're not careful, an opposing expert can sound like a dispassionate voice of wisdom rising above the squabbling lawyers. But if you do your homework, and ask the right questions during depositions, you should be able to cross-examine opposing experts successfully and depose them from their "throne" at trial.
