Sen. John Kerry's public profile and prosecutorial past didn't spare him last week from performing that most mundane of civic responsibilities: jury duty. A surprised Kerry was not only chosen to sit on a jury in Massachusetts' Suffolk Superior Court but also was elected foreman. He even charmed a registered Republican, who said if she could do it over, she'd vote for Kerry rather than President Bush in last year's election.
