Judge John Roberts Jr. is bowing out of a high-stakes case involving the American Bar Association. No reason was given, but the ABA has long evaluated Supreme Court nominees' qualifications and has yet to render a decision on Roberts. Legal ethics expert Steven Lubet said if Roberts is confirmed, he could alter the way the Court views recusals, as he seems to be holding himself to a rigorous standard. "It demonstrates at a minimum that Roberts is willing to think hard about it," Lubet said.
