For 48 New York high school students, summer wasn't just for relaxing at the beach but also for attending the New York State Bar Association's first mock trial camp. Among other challenges, the students learned about case analysis and ethical dilemmas and received lessons in cross-examination and making objections. Interest in the event ran so high that more than half the applicants had to be turned away.

They could have been lounging at the beach or snagging fly balls. But 48 high school students from around New York state chose to spend a week of summer vacation at mock trial camp, honing their advocacy skills for upcoming competitions.
