Davina Kaile manages the Silicon Valley offices of Pillsbury Winthrop, supervising more than half of the public company clients of the office. Over the last few years, she has led teams of lawyers in initial public offerings of major software and cutting-edge technology companies. Most notably, these deals included the $106 million IPO of PortalPlayer Inc., a company that produces the electronic components used by iPod and other music players and sells products that are incorporated into other companies’ devices. PortalPlayer was founded in 1999, and partnered with two other major software companies, SanDisk Corp. and RealNetworks Inc. Kaile also led the team of lawyers that guided the $132 million IPO of SiRF Technology Holdings Inc., a semiconductor company that recently recovered from the Internet bust of 2000. That company produces computer chips that power Global Positioning Systems, the technology installed in cellphones, tracking devices and upscale vehicles. Kaile also helped oversee the $2.2 billion secondary offering of Network Solutions Inc. in 2000. After six years of quality work with key IPOs and high-technology leaders, Pillsbury Winthrop promoted Kaile to managing partner of her office, one of the firm’s largest, in 2001. In addition to work on initial public offerings, Kaile spends time on corporate mergers and acquisitions.
