Dolan, who is suing the U.S. Postal Service over back and wrist injuries, lost in the lower courts when the government successfully argued it is immune from claims for negligent mail delivery. Dolan's lawyer pointed out that different federal circuits have defined mail delivery differently, requiring the high court's involvement.
