House Judiciary Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner toured the 9th Circuit's main courthouse recently to talk about splitting the court, meeting with Chief Judge Mary Schroeder and 15 other circuit and district judges to discuss both sides of the issue. But that same day, he breakfasted with a smaller contingent of judges who favor a split. One 9th Circuit judge called the breakfast "a surprisingly sneaky and uncollegial move on the part of the splitters."
