California Supreme Court justices on Thursday slammed a Los Angeles County prosecutor for "bad faith" use of "inconsistent" theories in two related murder trials and said his behavior forced them to overturn one defendant's death sentence. At issue on appeal was prosecutor Steven Ipsen's tactical decision to present evidence to the separate juries that each man delivered a life-ending hatchet blow to the victim.
