Howrey Simon Arnold & White has acquired 22 lawyers from Houston's Clements, O'Neill, Pierce, Wilson & Fulkerson. The deal increases Howrey's presence to 90 lawyers in Houston and 570 firmwide. Clements O'Neill partner John E. O'Neill was the point man for Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a veterans group intent on discrediting Sen. John Kerry's record during the presidential election. A Howrey partner said John O'Neill's highly visible role during the election had no effect on the merger deal.

Houston litigation firm Clements, O’Neill, Pierce, Wilson & Fulkerson has merged with national firm Howrey Simon Arnold & White, and 22 of Clements O’Neill’s lawyers joined Howrey’s Houston office.
