Attorney William Mayo has filed complaints with California's Commission on Judicial Performance against two judges who allegedly lead Pledge of Allegiance recitations in their courtrooms. The complaints accuse the judges of violating neutrality by forcing their religious and political beliefs upon others. Mayo further argues that the judges' recitation is "coercively compelling" a criminal defendant to "confess his sins before God and country," thereby prejudicing his case.
