An Iraqi came to Michigan lawyer Shereef Akeel in March with a seemingly outrageous claim: U.S. soldiers and civilians at the Abu Ghraib prison near Baghdad beat, sexually humiliated and stole from him -- and other prisoners were raped or fatally beaten. Akeel, who since the Sept. 11 terror attacks has represented Arab-American discrimination victims, was shocked -- but intent on finding redress for the prisoners. Then the Taguba report gave him the ammunition he sought.
