A New Jersey state appeals court has refused to dismiss a lawsuit filed by Newark against gun manufacturers and dealers, allowing it and suits brought by other New Jersey cities seeking compensation for costs associated with gun violence to proceed to trial. Gun control advocates said Tuesday's ruling was significant because it contradicts the legal reasoning of a ruling by the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
