Fairfield, N.J.’s Kyocera Mita America Inc. has introduced the KM-F1050 fax machine. It offers a standard bi-directional parallel port, 600 dpi printing at up to 10.2 pages-per-minute and 400 x 400 dpi scanning and copying. It provides a 33.6 Kbps Super G3 modem, up to a 760-page memory, and up to a 1,250-sheet capacity. Users can transmit and fax from memory while simultaneously printing from a PC, receiving a fax, or printing a fax from memory. The fax machine has 32 one-touch keys, 40 one-touch auto dialer keys, 160 abbreviated dials, and the capability to broadcast to and poll up to 232 locations. PRINTING Kyocera Mita America Inc. has also released the FS-1900 monochrome laser printer, offering 1200 dpi output at 19 pages-per-minute, with a first printout in 9.5 seconds. The unit includes a 500-sheet drawer, a 100 sheet multipurpose tray, and handling options including duplexing, envelope printing, sorting and stacking. It offers parallel, USB and card flash support, with an optional serial or 10/100BaseTX interface. SOFTWARE Irvine, Calif.’s Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. has announced an agreement with Electronics For Imaging, of Foster City, Calif., to distribute Velocity Workflow Software. The software package helps manage print engines and balance jobs across them, or combine separately printed black-and-white pages with color ones in the same document. Users can customize and merge documents from various sources electronically prior to printing, as well as perform printing cost analysis, job estimating and document scanning. Mount Laurel, N.J.-based Oki Data Americas Inc. has introduced PrintView Job Accounting Software, designed by Los Angeles’ Imaging Portals Inc. specifically for Oki monochrome and color printers. It monitors print jobs and can track them to the appropriate client, project or department, helping users to bill accordingly. The software utilizes a Universal PCL/PS print tracking method, and includes a user restriction feature, such that only certain groups or individuals are authorized for color printing. MONITORS Samsung Electronics U.S.A., located in Irvine, Calif., has unveiled the SyncMaster 950b, a 19-inch CRT display featuring Samsung’s HighLight Zone controls that let users directly adjust the size, brightness, contrast, color and sharpness of specified areas of the screen. The unit offers a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 at 68 Hz and utilizes a dot pitch of 0.22mm(H), and supports flicker-free resolutions in both the PC and MAC environments, says the company. IBM says its new IBM T560 Flat Panel Monitor tilts backward 145 degrees and can display images in either portrait or landscape modes. Included with the monitor is Pivot Pro software, which rotates images 90, 180 or 270 degrees. It offers a TFT active matrix LCD screen, with a 15-inch viewable screen. CLOSED CIRCUIT TV Chatsworth, Calif.-based Sanyo Security Products announces two new digital transport multiplexers, the MPX-CD163 and MPX-CD93, 16- and 9-input color multiplexers respectively. Both offer a mini matrix switcher system with four spot monitors to make up to a 16- or 9-input by 4-output matrix switcher system, capable of individual programmability on each output, as well as salvo switching.
