Boulder, Colo. has a new claim to fame: the city is the longtime home of Dale Hatfield, the grandfatherly, 63-year-old technology guru who's been tapped to serve as the Federal Trade Commission's watchdog over AOL Time Warner. In February, Hatfield was named "monitor trustee" as part of the deal the company struck with the FTC last year to win approval of its $112 billion merger.
