Northeast Utilities filed a lawsuit Monday seeking more than $1 billion in damages, alleging that Consolidated Edison breached the companies' 1999 merger agreement. The NU suit, filed in a New York federal court in Manhattan, comes after Con Ed filed its own suit last week in the same court, declaring that NU had failed to live up to the merger conditions.
