AMR Corp.’s American Airlines has hired the New York and Dallas offices of New York’s Weil, Gotshal & Manges to handle its proposed $3.5 billion purchase of TransWorld Airlines Inc., its $1.2 billion purchase of assets from US Airways Group, its agreement to operate the Northeast corridor shuttle route with UAL Corp.’s United Airlines and its $82 million investment in the newly formed DC Air. Chicago’s Kirkland & Ellis is representing TWA; New York’s Cravath, Swaine & Moore is representing United Airlines; New York’s Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom is representing US Air; and the Washington, D.C., office of Philadelphia’s Wolf, Block, Schorr and Solis-Cohen and Washington D.C.’s Arent Fox Kintner Plotkin & Kahn are representing DC Air. Weil Gotshal New York partner Thomas A. Roberts is leading that firm’s representation of American Airlines for all deals.
