BIG HIRES Minneapolis’ Fredrikson & Byron has hired four attorneys. Dulce J. Foster is an associate in the commercial litigation practice. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School. Gregory E. Karpenko is an associate in the commercial litigation group. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School. Benjamin J. Hasbrouck is an associate in the firm’s corporate and bankruptcy practices. He received his J.D., with distinction, from the University of North Dakota. Duane E. Schroeder is an associate in the business organization and tax planning groups. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Capital University, an LL.M. in business and taxation from Capital University, and an additional LL.M. in taxation from New York University. NEW HIRES Washington, D.C.’s Hogan & Hartson has hired Winston Maxwell, 40, as a partner in the firm’s Paris office. He was previously a member at New York’s Hughes, Hubbard & Reed in their Paris office. He received his J.D. from Cornell University in 1985. David W. Hull has joined the Brussels office of Washington, D.C.’s Covington & Burling as a partner, practicing EU competition law. He was formerly a partner at Van Bael & Bellis in Brussels. He received his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1983 and his LL.M. from the Free University of Brussels in 1984. ELECTIONS AND APPOINTMENTS New York’s Carter Ledyard & Millburn has elected two attorneys to partner and three attorneys to counsel. Stephen V. Burger, 48, is a partner in the corporate and securities practice. He received his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law in 1980. Mary Jane Hoene, 51, is a partner in the investment management practice. She received her J.D. from the University of Notre Dame in 1975. John R. Casolaro, 48, is counsel in the litigation and real estate practices. He received his J.D., cum laude, from Syracuse University College of Law in 1977. Lisa Factor Fox, 34, is counsel in the trusts and estates and exempt organizations practices. She received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law in 1991. Lee A. Ohlinger, 43, is counsel in the real estate practice. He received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law in 1981. Cleveland’s Baker & Hostetler has elected three lawyers in the Columbus office as partners in the firm. Joseph C. Devine, 34, practices employment and labor law. He received his J.D. from George Washington University in 1991. Sandra Parks Faulkner, 31, focuses on tax, personal planning and employee benefits. She received her J.D. from Ohio State University College of Law in 1993. Christopher D. Fidler, 36, concentrates his practice on tax and personal planning. He received his J.D. from Capital University Law School in 1992. In addition, the firm has also elected Rebecca C. Alexander partner in the firm’s Denver office. She practices commercial litigation and also concentrates on the negotiation of marital agreements. She received her J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern University in 1993. San Diego’s Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps has elected John T. Brooks, Kelly Capen Douglas, Lynne D. Kaelin and Charles P. Maher to the firm’s partnership. Brooks, 34, is a partner in the insurance bad faith litigation practice group in the San Diego office. He received his J.D. with distinction from Stanford Law School in 1993. Douglas, 33, is a partner in the labor & employment practice group in the San Diego office. She received her J.D. with high honors from Duke University School of Law in 1993. Kaelin, 36, is a partner in the real estate practice group in the San Diego office. She received her J.D. from the University of California Davis in 1991. She specializes in real estate development, acquisition and sales for commercial, industrial, retail and large residential projects. Maher, 49, is a partner in the commercial, finance & insolvency practice group in the San Francisco office. He received his J.D. from University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1986. He specializes in the representation of bankruptcy trustees, creditors’ committees, and creditors in a variety of bankruptcy, insolvency and workout situations.
