At ceremonies throughout the Illinois Thursday, 655 new lawyers were sworn in by members of the Illinois Supreme Court.

The new class brings the total of licensed Illinois lawyers to nearly 76,000, about 1,000 of whom are judges; Another 10,000 aren’t practicing in the state, according to figures provided by the Supreme Court and the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission.
