The Inner Circle of Advocates, an elite group of 100 prominent trial lawyers from the plaintiffs’ bar formed in 1972, has elected Chicago’s Joseph A. Power Jr. and Eugene I. Pavalon as its newest members.

Power, a name partner in Power Rogers & Smith, most recently helped secure a $100 million settlement with trucking companies allegedly responsible for the tragic highway deaths of six children outside Milwaukee, Wis. And it was largely thanks to his unrelenting discovery efforts in this civil case that led to the launching of Operation Safe Road, the federal probe into the Illinois Secretary of State’s drivers’ license for bribes scandal. As a result, Power was named Monday to the American Lawyer Media’s list of “Ten of the Most Influential Lawyers in Illinois.”
