One might come away from Gail Diane Cox’s story on NBC’s O.J. movie believing that Barry Scheck, like some of his “Dream Team” colleagues, prepped his television counterpart. Not so. The closest Barry has ever come to Bruno Kirby, his television stand-in, was when he sat in the front row at a sold-out performance of City Slickers, in which Kirby co-starred with Billy Crystal. I don’t believe that Barry, Peter Neufeld or Johnnie Cochrane spent any time coaching their broadcast facsimiles. I also think the story ” Behind the Behind-the-Scenes of the O.J. TV Movie,” was wrong about the O.J.’s “too Jewish” comments. The genesis of this story may have come from Bob Schapiro’s comments that one of Barry’s ties was “too blue-ish” and would turn off the jury, at which point the outspokenly color-blind Alan Dershowitz said, “funny, it doesn’t look blue-ish.” But this last episode may be apocryphal.
