With first-year associate salaries skyrocketing to six digits, University of Pennsylvania law students seemingly couldn’t have asked for much more from their future employers. But they did.

Penn’s 3L and L.L.M. students held their annual pre-graduation party in the ballroom of the Moshulu last week. But a letter drafted by the 3L officers soliciting a $500 minimum donation from Philadelphia’s law firms to foot the bill for the “financial burden” of the party raised more than a few eyebrows.
