Hairsplitting Bandits Bloodied by Two Appeals Courts

A new breed of "hairsplitting bandit" -- those criminals who use their cunning knowledge of the law to try and minimize their sentences when convicted -- were clearly shot down in recent days by two federal appeals courts in Chicago. The rulings send the message that would-be thieves will not be able to get off the hook just because they are unarmed.
