London-based Lovells has poached its first Dutch partner following its decision to merge with Ekelmans’ Den Hollander. Trenite Van Doorne partner Marc Wallheimer joins the merged firm’s Amsterdam IP team in May. IP partner Henning Harte-Bavendamm says Wallheimer will boost Lovells’ patent and trademark capabilities. “This will be of interest not only to clients seeking pure IP advice, but also to those involved in the increasing number of M&A deals on which European IP rights are a key element,” says Harte-Bavendamm. Wallheimer is a Dutch qualified lawyer who specializes in trademark law and is also active in pharmaceuticals. Lovells senior partner Andrew Walker says: “We would always be pleased to have a practitioner of Marc’s stature join the firm. “That he should do so in the context of our merger with Ekelmans’ Den Hollander reinforces our confidence in the latest stage in our development as a European-based worldwide business law firm.”
