A church seeking to recover a million-dollar verdict from an insurer is out of luck because the claimed damages weren’t caused by an “occurrence” during the policy period, a unanimous Pennsylvania Superior Court panel has ruled in a memorandum opinion.

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin of Mary Church filed the underlying suit against Building Concepts Inc., a company the church contracted for construction work.
