SEC Chairman Arthur Levitt will receive the Golden Pen Award from the Legal Writing Institute for his work in minimizing the legalistic language in securities documents. "(Levitt) has worked so diligently on this initiative, which proves that good legal writing can make even the most complex documents easier to understand," said Mary Beth Beazley, president of the institute.

Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Arthur Levitt is set to receive the first Golden Pen Award from the Legal Writing Institute Jan. 6 during a ceremony at the National Press Club.
Levitt is being honored for “leading the initiative that has taken legal vernacular out of public information documents,” said a Legal Writing Institute press release.
