New York’s Shearman & Sterling acted as U.S. counsel to SmithKline Beecham P.L.C., and that city’s Sullivan & Cromwell was U.S. counsel to Glaxo Wellcome P.L.C., for their proposed $76 billion merger. Two London firms acted as primary outside counsel for the London-based drug makers: Slaughter & May for Glaxo Wellcome and Linklaters for SmithKline.
