Kelly Gissendaner planned her husband’s 1997 murder and supplied the weapons; her boyfriend, Gregory Owen, carried out the crime with a nightstick and a knife.
Owen, who turned state’s evidence against his lover, was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole; Gissendaner went to trial and, in 1998, was sentenced to death.
