When Predictive Systems, a computer network company, went shopping for a general counsel, it went straight to the law firm that already was handling a good chunk of its business.

The company called Gary N. Papilsky, a fourth-year associate at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison. “One of the first clients I worked on was Predictive Systems,” recalled Papilsky who joined the firm in September 1998. “I got to know the whole family. I was at the first board meeting and worked on their IPO.”
